Barangay patrolling operations of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Santa Rita Pampanga Municipal Station was powered by bicycles. This is in line with their program “Bisikleta Iglesia” and as part of the public safety initiatives for Oplan Ligtas SumVac 2026.
PMaj. Jose A. Bandong II, Chief of Police, said that “the use of bicycle is being promoted especially during these times of crises,” citing the current fuel price hike.
Mayor Reynan Calo lauded PNP and PNP-Santa Rita’s initiative. “This affirms the role of our uniformed personnel in serving as role models for the community.”
Mayor Calo also emphasized that this is part of the preparations of the Local Government Unit (LGU) in mobilizing personnel for the expected surge of tourists and visitors during the Lenten holidays.
