The Local Government Unit of Santa Rita has successfully registered its Data Protection Officer (DPO) and Data Processing Systems (DPS) with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) — marking a significant step in strengthening data privacy, information security, and responsible data management within the municipality.
This registration, as mandated by the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and NPC Circular No. 2022-04, ensures that all government entities handling personal and sensitive information comply with national privacy standards.
Santa Rita’s DPO registration was led by Data Privacy Officer Ms. Janice Javier, with the support of CBMS Statistician Ms. Alecxies Torno and Municipal Planning and Development Officer Ms. Editha Salvador, under the leadership of Mayor Reynan G. Calo.
Locally, this initiative also aligns with the LGU’s broader effort to address population data concerns and promote data-driven planning for sustainable community development.
