The Municipality of Santa Rita officially launched the implementation of Project LAWA at BINHI through a Ceremonial Turnover and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony held on July 15, 2026, at San Basilio National High School, one of the project’s three implementation sites.
A program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Project LAWA at BINHI combines Cash-for-Work assistance with environmental protection and climate resilience initiatives. Through the program, selected beneficiaries take part in activities that promote water conservation, urban gardening, food security, and sustainable community development while receiving temporary employment.
Prior to the implementation, an orientation for the program’s 200 beneficiaries was conducted on July 14 at the Santa Rita Plaza Covered Court to prepare participants for the project’s 20-day implementation.
Mayor Reynan S. Calo joined Ms. Mizzy Fallorin, DSWD Region III Focal Person for Cash-for-Work, together with Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Ma. Jacqueline F. Quiambao, Municipal Agriculturist Emelita L. Hernandez, MENRO focal person Bryan O. Lumba, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, and other municipal officials during the ceremonial opening. The Municipality extends its gratitude to DSWD Region III for its continued partnership in bringing meaningful livelihood opportunities and environmental programs to the people of Santa Rita.
Aside from San Basilio National High School, the project will also be implemented at the Ambrocio S. Simpao Educational and Trade (ASSET) Center of Learning and the Municipality’s Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), reflecting the Municipal Government’s continued commitment to programs that promote environmental sustainability while providing support to Ritenian families.
