One of the highlights of the Bayung Santa Rita Administration’s first 100 days was the renewed effort to preserve and sustain Duman, the town’s most cherished heritage grain.
Through a series of local consultations and collaborative efforts, with valuable support also extended by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the initiative to strengthen Duman farming began to take shape.
From just a handful of farmers before, Santa Rita now celebrates the growing number of Duman producers, with over 20 local farmers given assistance to continue cultivating this unique tradition.
A milestone that reflects Santa Rita’s pride in its culture, its people, and its enduring agricultural legacy.
