During the 23rd Duman Festival last December 6, Mayor Reynan S. Calo emphasized the continued efforts of the Bayung Santa Rita Administration to support and preserve pamagduman. As a Ritenian who grew up around ‘palbibewan’, he noted that protecting the Duman tradition became one of his earliest priorities upon assuming office last July. This included issuing Executive Order No. 5, expanding assistance to farmers, and holding a series of consultations to strengthen local production. He also mentioned the recent improvements to the parish patio, which helped accommodate this year’s larger celebration.
Former President and 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo likewise highlighted the importance of safeguarding the full process of Duman production. She encouraged unity among Ritenians to keep the tradition alive and expressed hope that the number of Duman farmers will continue to grow in the coming years.
Their messages reflected a shared commitment to sustaining the Duman heritage and supporting the community that keeps this Kapampangan tradition thriving.
