𝗟𝗚𝗨 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻

Upon the direct instruction of Mayor Reynan S. Calo, the Municipal Government of Santa Rita conducted an on-site inspection today following reports of flooding in Becuran.

The LGU was represented by Councilor Jessie Pineda, Municipal Engineer Engr. Rosette Buan, OIC-MDRRMO Anne Becada, and members of the Becuran Barangay Council, who inspected two areas identified as concerns.

Based on the initial assessment, the flooding along the provincial road is caused in part by the limited capacity of the existing provincial canal, resulting in water overflowing and backing up into the area.

Even before today’s inspection, the Municipality had already submitted a request to the Provincial Engineer’s Office on September 4 for the construction of a canal along the provincial road. As the road is under the jurisdiction of the Province, the construction of the canal requires coordination from the Provincial Government.

In the meantime, the Municipality will coordinate with Barangay Becuran on possible declogging activities along the affected area. The second site inspected inside Becuran will also undergo further assessment for a possible canal project.

The Municipality continues to act on reported flooding concerns and coordinate with the concerned offices to address the situation.
